Context

Why now: SPFx 1.24 and SharePoint Copilot Apps

Microsoft started the public preview of SharePoint Copilot Apps in July 2026. General availability is announced for September 2026 together with SPFx 1.24, including the SPFx CLI and navigation customizers.

The core of the change: solutions are “Copilot-ready by default”. What you build as a web part can be surfaced on the Copilot canvas in Teams, SharePoint and Viva. Existing SPFx knowledge stays valid and gains a second stage.

In practice that means two things. First, anyone building a web part today should scope it so it can later work as a Copilot app – that costs almost nothing up front and saves a rebuild later. Second, whoever starts now gathers experience while competitors are still waiting for GA.

In parallel, the move to React 18 is under way. Custom web parts can adopt it already; broad enablement is planned for the GA of SPFx 1.24. If you run older web parts, plan for that migration – we check it as part of our migration analysis.

Frequently asked questions about SharePoint development

The SharePoint Framework (SPFx) is Microsoft's official development model for custom building blocks in SharePoint Online and Microsoft Teams. You need it as soon as the built-in web parts cannot cover your use case. If a built-in feature or a list with Power Automate is enough, we will tell you in the intro call – and you save yourself the project.
A single, clearly scoped web part starts at €1,900 as a fixed price. An intranet suite of three to five web parts including a design system starts at €5,900. We give you the binding price after the intro call, once the scope is clear. All packages are on the pricing page.
Yes, always. You receive the complete repository including the build pipeline and could continue development yourself or with another provider at any time. That is the difference from licensed intranet products, where you pay per employee per year and start over if you switch vendors.
Copilot Apps are Microsoft's new model for making your own data and actions available directly in Microsoft 365 Copilot. The public preview has been running since July 2026 and general availability is announced for September 2026 together with SPFx 1.24. Details of our offering are on the Copilot Apps page.
Support for SharePoint Server 2019 ended on 14 July 2026 and there are no more security updates. The critical part is less the data migration than the customisations that grew over the years: JSLink, sandbox and farm solutions, InfoPath forms and Designer workflows do not run in SharePoint Online. That is why we start with an inventory analysis before anything moves.
We do, if you want. SPFx solutions need maintenance because Microsoft ships new versions regularly and the move to React 18 is currently under way. Maintenance, monitoring and smaller adjustments are covered by our monthly support packages. You can just as well run it yourself – the source code is yours.
Very often, in fact. Not every process needs custom code. If your use case can be solved with Power Automate, a SharePoint list and some configuration, that is faster and cheaper. We only recommend custom web parts once the built-in tools demonstrably cannot carry the use case.
